Jigging Samson Fish
NOVEMBER - MARCH

The Game Fish Alternative”

Samson Fish fishing charters are a realistic way to experience an alternative to game fishing. The Warrior Princess recently landed a "Sambo" weighing in at 48kg!

International anglers are regular clients on the Warrior Princess, coming back year after year.

Samson fishing along our continental shelf, with jigs or fresh bait, is the latest craze sweeping through the worldwide fishing fraternity.

Samson Fish are caught on a Catch and Release basis as "Sambos" are easy to release safely back into the ocean.

Samson Fish can pull like a freight train and are always a challenge to catch.

A private group booking is essential for Samson Fishing.

Charters depart from the Sardine Jetty in Fremantle's Fishing Boat Harbour.

Clients are required to supply their own tackle, although jigs can be purchased through Warrior Princess at discounted prices on a pre-charter order basis.

The Samson Fish is very similar in shape and colour to a large Trevally but has a low first dorsal fin and a shorter pectoral fin. It grows considerably larger than the trevally and adult specimens range in size from 80cm to over l.8 metres.

Dark brown above and silver-white below, they have conspicuous golden yellow flanks and fins and a large individual is an impressive sight. Samson Fish are fast swimming pelagic carnivores with similar habits to the King Fish.

Lucky Fish Unlucky Fisherperson - Not only did this "Sambo" take the jig but it also managed to snap the rod. Just as well this fisherperson has the photo to prove it - of the snapped rod at least!
